Original Wilton Parterre
Lady Anne Clifford went on from Knole to create a garden at Wilton which was renowned for its parterres. Normally parterres are symmetrical, with compartments and order. Knole's topsy turvey parterre is asymmetrical, broken-up and consists of random curves picked from the order of Wilton's original parterres.
